I like to fix things and turn my hand to most things diy (houses, cars, boats, bikes, motorbikes, darning...) not obsessively just in my own time and money permitting.
I love exploring (seeing what's around the corner) be that road trips, paddling a sit-on-top kayak, an Avon SR4 deluxe, cycling, walking in remote places, ice skating or skiing. Sharing some of these experiences with you would be ideal.
I grew up in a city but prefer to live a quieter life in the countryside. I like the beach any time of year and enjoy most things to do with water.
Personality wise I prefer to keep just a few close friends, but will happily socialise when required. I try not to be too materialistic and may be a little unconventional at times. As a rule of thumb I prefer women over men for conversation. Sometimes funny and sometimes a little cheeky!
I have a daughter and a step daughter who have both flown the nest now.
I get grumpy(ier)/petulant at times when tired (what a catch?!) so try not to burn the candle at both ends too often. I'm more of an early bird than night owl and start talking when I wake up.

About his ideal match
I'm looking for a mutual attraction and someone I can be best friends with. Being independent, liberal and affectionate are probably the main things I find attractive. Communication too is key for me in a relationship. I don't live the high life so generally go for someone more casual than high heels and makeup. If you want to travel the world in style then we probably won't get on as longer term, self-sufficiency and having a small footprint appeals to me (a rural version of the good life?), at least in theory :-)
I'm not looking to live with someone in the short term, so that's one of those marmite things in life. I am however happy with monogamy so if that's not your thing then I won't suit you either. Looking to share my free time but don't mind sharing family time too if that works out.
