About him
Born in Ireland but been in UK since I was 2 years old. My pals would hopefully say I am confident, outgoing and reasonably generous. I might add "witty" but that is open to question! I have recently started writing and taking part in murder mysteries with our local Am-Dram group. Its a fun way of trying to keep the shrinking memory cells alive ! Like most of us I love sunshine and travel and it would be great to have a travel partner to share adventures and explore new cultures near and far. I particularly love France and speak reasonably fluent French and I like to spend some time there each summer since I retired three years ago. I play a little bit of tennis rather badly and go for the occasional swim and do a little fair weather cycling. I love anything to do with cars, particularly classic cars and am rather obsessed by Formula 1. I think I am a glass half full sort of guy but it would be good to top that glass up with the right partner who shares some of values and interests and can introduce me to some of hers. I am type 2 diabetic but its generally well controlled and managed by tablets and being sensible most of the time.

A broad and ready smile is a big plus as are bright eyes and a keen sense of humour. A reasonably neutral accent in the speaking voice is a nice to have. Someone who is loyal and tactile and looking for a true partnership so we could walk off into the sunset together. It would be helpful if they have a reasonable amount of free time or are retired like I am so that we could do some distant travel or just take off to the coast or France for a few days at the drop of a hat. If they play tennis or cycle or can introduce me to a relatively gentle new sport or hobby that would be good too. I am not used to living with pets so perhaps someone who is rather over-obsessed on the canine front might be tricky to get along with.

Gordon and I have been buddies for over 45 years and obviously I've got to know him pretty well over that time. He's intelligent, well read, with a sharp wit and a great linguistic ability. He's also a very social animal, always at the centre of things whatever the occasion. He is very generous with his time and can be relied upon to be there for those who need practical help or an ear to bend. He's not very good in his own company for longer periods, nor does he suffer fools gladly. Musically his tastes are, shall we say, esoteric, unless you're a Janis Ian fan, in which case you're home and dry! His (and my) sense of humour can be come tedious at times as we seem to be stuck in a 1970s Monty Python rut and the jokes and puns can wear thin after being heard a few times! So there we are, a decent gent who's just missing the final piece of his personal puzzle, a partner to share his life with.

I have been lucky enough to know Gordon for 25 years. He is funny, kind, and great company. An amusing and thoughtful man who is interested in many things. He will be a great partner for the right lady.
