Living the Essex countryside, I'm quiet, laid-back, educated, unmaterialistic, a sapiophile, liberal-minded, alternative, totally teetotal; described by some as eccentric. Tend to comment wryly from the fringes rather than run with the pack.
Not a party animal. Into a wide range of outdoor and sporty activities, both watching and spectating esp. country walking and mountains. Have clambered up 100s of mountains in the Yorkshire Dales, Isle of Skye, Ireland, Wales, and especially the Lake District.
Regular tennis player.
Enjoy adventures and exploring Britain and Ireland. (In my time have travelled in a lot of Europe, also USA, Caribbean & Zimbabwe, but no longer have a passport - expired just before covid and I never got round to renewing it).

Addicted to cryptic crosswords especially Picaroon, Philistine, Paul & Arachne. Music lover, esp. contemporary folk (Calan, Gigspanner, Moirai, Lau) classical (eg Mozart, Schubert string quartets, Handel, baroque), minimalism (Nyman, Glass, Richter etc) & world music, festivals, theatre, old black and white films (film noir, Wilder, Ealing, Hitchcock and much more) literature (PG Wodehouse, Dickens, and travel writer Dixe Wills). Humanist, internationalist, Europhile, republican, pacifist, anti-racist.

Almost totally lacking in practical / DIY skills.
Definitely not into reality TV & celebrity culture, cookery shows, tabloids, shopping. And have an aversion to the likes of Harry Potter, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.
